| The Question |
| |
|
I am frequently asked to define the term "Young Married." The question
has many forms: "Who are the Young Marrieds?" "Are my wife and I Young
Marrieds?" "Are we too old to be Young Marrieds?" Although these
questions are asked in different ways and by different people, what most
people want is a definitive statement quantifying the exact boundaries of
the Young Marrieds group. Instead of giving an age limit or an exclusionary
definition for this ministry, I would prefer to focus on the ministry's
purpose. By identifying the needs we hope to fill, my goal is to empower
each of you to determine the best way for you to involve yourself in this
ministry. |

| The Need |
| |
| The need for a ministry to serve young married couples at Woodinville
was identified because we have a growing population of married couples who
are young and who share a common desire to find a peer support and
fellowship group. Many of our young families are relatively new to the
congregation and are looking for ways to integrate into our Christian
Family here. We need something to help bring us together and give us a
network of Christians with similar life-experiences and friendship needs
in order to bring all of us closer to Christ.

| The Ministry |
| |
| The Young Marrieds ministry is not about taking young married families
out of the rest of the congregation, but instead it is about bringing them
closer into the congregation. While some needs can only be filled by other
Young Marrieds, there are several opportunities for service. From being
"marriage mentors" to babysitting to opening up your house to our group,
there are many ways to be involved in this ministry. So, even if you feel
like you would not put yourself in the Young Marrieds "need" group, then
you may be exactly what this ministry needs!
